A Message From The Excecutive Director....

Girls Incorporated, once known as the Meriden Girls Club, will be assuming an all girl environment as of September 2004 for all after school programs. This decision has been strongly encouraged by our National Organization for several years. We are very excited about this decision and the opportunity to align ourselves with our National mission.

As we continue to offer traditional classes such as cooking and quilting, we are now planning on incorperating more National Programs, which are intentional and compensatory. Girs Incorporated programming clearly focuses on girls' needs with the intent of making a difference in girls' lives. Compensatory programming provides girls with the experiences and opportunites they are unlikely to recieve in other settings.

Girls Incorporated believes that girls require some time and space solely for girls, where their needs and interests are in the forefront. this kid of atmosphere fosters a girl's self confidence and aspirations. Our research based informal education programs encourage girls to take risks and master challenges. Our programs help to build a girl's capacity for confident responsible adulthood, economic independence and personal fulfillment.

Girls are our specialty! Girls Inc. is a place where talents are discovered, values ar eset, self esteem is developed, "growing pains" are a little less intense, lifelong friendships are formed and girls find a brighter, stronger future.

Girls Incorporated of Meriden looks forword to joining hundreds of sites across the country, reaching half a million girls between ages 6 and 18 on their road to becoming Strong, Smart and Bold.
